Apples are added both for taste and to keep the cabbage looking red.
To Serve 4:
- ½ red cabbage
- 3 eating apples
- ½ teaspoon of salt
Method:
Sproglet chose a red cabbage while shopping and today I turned it into dinner.
To prepare I took the outer leaves of the cabbage, and cut it in half.
The half cabbage was cut in half and then I popped it on the spiralizer using the slicing blade.
It really is amazing to see how quickly it turns a firm cabbage into beautifully shredded cabbage.
I popped this in the pan and added three peeled and chopped eating apples.
I put in a ½ teaspoon of salt and enough water to just cover the cabbage.
Put the lid on and boil gently till the cabbage is cooked but still has crunch.
Drain any remaining water and it’s ready to eat.
I served mine with pork and potatoes and a thick gravy.
I love red cabbage, and had forgotten how nicely it goes with apples – looks yummy, as usual 🙂
