Sprouts… you hear that lots of people HATE sprouts but they can be a lovely and nutritious vegetable.
The secret is not to cook them too much! So forget cutting that cross at the stalk to “cook the centre” but chose medium size sprouts and just take the outer leaves of and cook them till they are “al dente”.
I never use frozen sprouts because we find they taste funny. So fresh sprouts it is.
If you still don’t fancy boiled sprouts (I admit, even that sentence makes me think “yuk”) then try this recipe.
Serves 6:
- 500 g of sprouts, sliced
- ½ pack of Quorn bacon, chopped
- 2 onions, chopped
- Salt, pepper and chilli flakes
- Olive oil
Method:
This is super easy to make, just put some oil in the pan add the onions and bacon and stir fry till the onions are soft then add the sprouts.
Add salt, pepper and chilli flakes to taste and stir fry till the sprouts start softening and that is it… ready and delicious.
